  The Governor announced the Pandemic-EBT (P-EBT) benefits on Monday, 4.20.2020.

  Description

  P-EBT is currently issued monthly to households with school age children who receive free and reduced-price meals at school through the National School Lunch Program (NSLP), but whose school has been closed or has reduced hours for at least 5 consecutive days in the current school year due to the COVID19 pandemic. Eligibility for this benefit is based on the operating status of the schools in the area of the child’s residence. Since all schools in Rhode Island have been open at least partially since October 1, 2020, all eligible children under age 6 will receive a standard monthly benefit based on 11 days per month of eligibility ($75.02 per month).   Description

  RI Works Program the overall goal of RIW Program is to encourage families to work and become self-sufficient. Parents who work may still qualify for cash assistance and other help, including health care coverage, child care subsidies, and SNAP benefits (food assistance). DHS social caseworkers work with parents to develop an employment plan that outlines activities they must do to improve their success in the job market. Most parents will first be required to search for employment. Single parents must work or prepared for work an average of 20 or 30 hours per week depending on the age of the youngest child. Job training and education may be recommended.
